Laptop Won't Turn On: What to Do Print

  • 0

Don't panic. Most power issues have simple solutions.

Step 1: Check the Power

  • Charger plugged into both laptop and wall outlet?
  • Try a different outlet.
  • Check for a charging light. No light = possibly faulty charger.

Step 2: Hard Reset

  1. Disconnect the charger.
  2. Remove the battery (if removable).
  3. Hold the power button for 15–20 seconds.
  4. Reconnect charger (and battery).
  5. Try turning it on.

Step 3: Check the Display

Your laptop might be on but the screen could be off:

  • Listen for fan noise or drive activity.
  • Press the brightness up key (Fn + brightness).
  • Connect an external monitor to test.

Step 4: Remove External Devices

Disconnect all USB devices, monitors, and peripherals. A faulty USB device can sometimes prevent booting.

When to Contact Support

If none of the above works, the issue may be hardware-related. Open a support ticket and we'll help diagnose it.
