Check volume and mute
Click the speaker icon in the taskbar, raise the volume, and make sure it isn't muted (no X on the icon).

Select the right output device
Click the speaker icon → choose your output. Windows may be sending sound to a disconnected device or HDMI monitor.

Unplug headphones
A partially inserted headphone jack silences the speakers. Remove and reinsert, or blow out any lint in the jack.

Restart the audio service
Press Windows + R, type services.msc, find Windows Audio, right-click → Restart.

Update the sound driver
Device Manager → Sound, video and game controllers → right-click your device → Update driver.
