Wi-Fi Not Working on Your Laptop? Try These Steps Print

  • 0

Wi-Fi issues are common and usually easy to fix. Work through these steps.

Step 1: Check the Basics

  • Is Airplane mode turned off?
  • Is Wi-Fi enabled? (Check the system tray icon)
  • Can other devices connect? If not, the issue is your router.

Step 2: Restart Everything

  1. Toggle Wi-Fi off/on (wait 10 seconds).
  2. If no luck, restart your laptop.
  3. Still failing? Unplug your router for 30 seconds, plug back in.

Step 3: Forget & Reconnect

Settings → Network & Internet → Wi-Fi → Manage known networks → Forget your network → Reconnect with password.

Step 4: Update Network Driver

Right-click Start → Device Manager → Network adapters → Right-click Wi-Fi adapter → Update driver → Search automatically.

Step 5: Network Reset (Last Resort)

Settings → Network & Internet → Advanced → Network reset. This reinstalls all adapters and resets settings. You'll need to re-enter Wi-Fi passwords.
