DDR4 vs. DDR5 RAM: What's the Difference? Print

  • 0

DDR4 and DDR5 are two generations of laptop memory. DDR5 is newer and faster, but for most people the amount of RAM matters far more than the type.

What actually matters

For browsing, office work, and multitasking, going from 8 GB to 16 GB makes a much bigger difference than DDR4 vs DDR5. Prioritize how much RAM you have first; the generation is a secondary concern unless you're doing heavy professional work.
